Holiday Week

This week the Turks are celebrating Kurban Bayram. I will not even attempt to explain what goes on during this holiday, but I urge you to read about it here as it is very interesting. While we did not witness any sacrifices we have seen evidence of them. There is blood on the interior stairwell of our apartment building. I'm assuming someone carried their meat home on Monday in a leaky container. Also, when Zach went to the grocery store today to buy ground beef there were over twenty people standing in line at the butcher counter, holding bowls full of the meat from the slaughterings on Monday. They were waiting to have the butcher run it through the grinder. Fortunately, when they saw Zach was there to actually buy something, they allowed him to cut to the front.
