Tomorrow Zach will travel to the Republic of Georgia. He'll be teaching, training, observing, and learning at a Community Health Education seminar for a week. He's excited to do something "medical" for the week (as our current work here is mostly research and language learning) and to see a new country. Rumor has it that Georgia is beautiful! And, for those of you who like geography/politics,etc...Georgia is located in the Caucasus region. The Caucasus or Caucas (also referred to as Caucasia) is a geopolitical region located between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. It is home to the Caucasus Mountains, including Europe's highest mountain (Mount Elbrus).
And in Eli news:He's a bit obsessed with stringed instruments. He will strum the heck out of a guitar, and will carry on in a crying fit when a guitar is put away. "EEE-tar, EEE-tar," he will say in between sobs. In his ABC book (that shows a picture for each letter) he turns the pages forward, and backward, and forward, and backward to point out the guitar "EEE-tar" and the violin "bye-o-lin." Here he is playing the Baglama - Turkish string folk instrument - that came with our furnished apartment. Don't worry...it was taped together with packaging tape before it came into our possession.
