Top 10

We've been in Turkey almost 7 months now and I was thinking just this week that we've adapted to so many things in such a short time. Here is the top 10 list of our adaptations to life in Turkey:

10. When the power and water go out we now only say "Oh, the power and water are out."

9. Trucks with loud speakers and vendors shouting the names of their goods outside our apartment is TOTALLY normal.

8. Cucumbers, olives, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, and cheese is a good breakfast.

7. We will never go back to store-bought, sliced and packaged bread. Daily fresh bread is better.

6. People driving the wrong way (or in reverse) on a one-way street is nothing to panic over.

5. Ayran (a salty yogurt drink) is very refreshing.

4. Wet paint or sopping wet stairwells with NO SIGNS OF WARNING bothers no one. And now, not even us.

3. Zach can kiss a man...and I'm okay with it. (On the cheek of course :)

2. Accidentally wearing shoes in the house (even in our own house) makes us feel guilty.

1. Plain yogurt is good on EVERYTHING (meat, vegetables, etc.).

So - number 8... glad to hear that they have the same, general, thing for breakfast there as in Israel... And I thought eating cucumber and tomato salad three meals a day for a month was going to be bad?!

Cameron,
They do have cereal....a variety of about 5 different kinds or so, but I can only take so much of the same cereal over and over and over. It's also easy to make pancakes from scratch, but you'll need to bring mapeline flavoring with you to make syrup.
