Weekend Fun

We've had a busy weekend taking our friends around town and introducing them to a number of different people and places. Yesterday, we attended an outreach picnic for Persian speakers in the Ankara area. While the organizers only expected around 70 people, over 100 (mostly Iranian refugees) attended. We spent the morning getting to know several of them who spoke English. One guy I met has been "held" here for over 8 years waiting on a transfer from the U.N. Another guy, who spoke English with a British accent similar to that of Austin Powers, had only arrived in Turkey two days before. The only downside to the day was that it was cold and overcast and eventually got HAILED out.
A game of Iranian-style dodgeball.

Part of the group gathering for prayer before food.

Trying to get a fire going in the Turkish-style barbeque pit.

Our guests using the playground equipment as a shelter from the wind.
Eli tested out a big boy bike this week at a friend's house.

Noah is moving and grooving. We've had to move the potted plants and continuously keep an eye on the staircase.
