On Sunday, at the break of dawn, we loaded up our car and drove 8 hours to Gümüşlük (Goo moosh luke), Turkey, a small town on the Aegean Sea. It lies just outside of Bodrum, a tourist city that attracts many Turks, Europeans, and Russians. We chose to stay "off the beaten path" in a little rental apartment away from the tourists where we could do laundry, cook our own meals, and spread out a bit. While cooking every meal on vacation doesn't sound relaxing, it's actually been fun. Before we left Ankara, our friend Alexandra (who is living with us for the summer, and you'll meet in an upcoming post) graciously helped us purchase foods from the American military base grocery store. We loaded up with some of our favorites like chips and salsa, Johnsonville brats, Root Beer, and non-lamby tasting ground beef. So, each day has been like a little taste of home.

wow. eli is a giant now. are both your boys july babies? i love the pic of eli eating cheez its. kinda hilarious. i have lots of pics of when i was little with random things covering me to make me modest. great job erika! glad you had a lovely vacation. your family is so beautiful :)
Happy Birthday, Noah!! Looks like a great trip and the apartment looks really nice! By the way, Noah has a twin here in Kansas City. I saw a baby at Target the other day and had to do a double-take.
Jihae - yep, both of them are july babies. Actually, Zach, Eli, Noah, and I all have birthdays within a 33 day span. It's crazy!
